Today, Tignanello 2016 was released in the UK for £750 per 12×75.
The Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner is currently the only critic to have scored the wine. She awarded a barrel range of 95-97 points. In her tasting note she said that “ultimately, the 2016 Tignanello is slightly more streamlined compared to the more fleshy 2015” and added that it “shows a high calibre of fresh primary fruit that is direct and intense”.
Prices for Tignanello are not closely correlated to critic scores. Instead, vintages have appreciated in price with the passing of time. Buyers looking for value may wish to consider the 2008 which has a similar Market Price (£770 per 12×75), but an additional eight years in bottle.
Alternatively, the equally-scored 2013 is available for a small discount on today’s release.
