Beausejour Duffau 2017 has been released at €75.60 per bottle ex-negociant, a 10% decrease on the 2016 release price of €84. It is being offered by UK merchants for £930 per 12×75, down 9.4% in sterling terms on the 2016 release of £1,026 per case.
Critic’s have enjoyed this year’s vintage but forewarned the wine will need some time in-bottle. Neal Martin, who awarded a score of 92-94 points, noted that “this will require four or five years in bottle”.
Today’s opening price comes at a fairly heavy premium to the price implied by Liv-ex’s fair value methodology. Fans of Beausejour Duffau might wish to consider the recently upgraded 2008, which carries a higher score of 95 points and is available in the market at nearly a 50% discount to today’s offering.
